Fast and Easy Home Organization Tips

Whether you live in an expansive suburban home or a small condo in the city, knowing how to properly maximize your living space will pay you huge dividends down the road.  Take a walk through the most important areas of your home and if you feel crowded, you can guarantee any potential buyer will feel it tenfold.

The Kitchen

Your kitchen is the most important room in your home. It is the gathering point for family and friends and generally, it is where you begin each day. Removing clutter is essential. Creating storage through the use of a portable island or a hanging pot rack can free up counter space.

The Living Room

The second most important room in your home is your living room. Generally, it is located in the centre of the home. As guests or potential buyers stroll through your living room, they can be quickly overwhelmed by clutter. Keeping this area well organized is key. Use shelving, boxes or storage bins to hide personal items. Keep family photos sparse. Remember this will soon be someone else’s home. Let them imaging themselves in it.

The Bathroom

Sometimes, a bathroom can resemble a warzone. Hair dryers, toothbrushes, combs and make-up can create distraction through their visual clutter. Try to create a Zen-like space in your bathroom. Keep items tucked away in drawers or cabinets, or stored neatly in baskets.

Don’t let the thought of de-cluttering your entire home overwhelm you. That’s what winter is for. Use your time indoors and go from room to room as your schedule permits. You’ll be surprised at the amount of time you will save on spring cleaning.
